About JB: The Evolution to becoming an Asset II Society

“I’ve always believed that lived experience is not a limitation. It’s a blueprint. Every chapter of my life has been an opportunity to build something intentional, sustainable, and rooted in community.”

From student activist to licensed social worker to social entrepreneur —

This is the evolution of becoming Jazmyn “The Resource” Bradford, LLMSW.

The Awakening Era

(High School Activism)

Labeled a “rebel,” but rooted in purpose.
I used my voice early to advocate for Black excellence, equity, and community justice in spaces that weren’t always ready to hear it.

Fun Fact: During my senior year, I orchestrated a “Black Out” in celebration of Class of 2016, which became a school wide initiative - no matter race or class level. Also, I coordinated our “Running Through ‘16 With My Woes” class shirt order in collaboration with a local, Black high schooler with a t-shirt business.

Impact Note:

  • Organized/participated in 10+ student-led initiatives

  • Completed over 20+ volunteer projects across my high school career

  • Sparked conversations around equity and representation

The Foundational Era

(Social Work + Systems Thinking)

Based on my experiences in field placements, student internships and some of my first “big girl” salaried jobs - I learned how systems operate. Additionally, how to navigate, challenge, and rebuild them with intention.

Although the missions of these organizations were solid and true - I kept quitting because the spaces didn’t feel like I was making impact with results in stress relief for all. If anything, I felt growing tensions all related to inconsistent communication, rushed program planning and high turnaround rates for staff.

You want to know what all of these spaces had in common? Burnout.

This led me to creating THE solution: Virtual assistance services for nonprofit leaders and small business owners.

I was determined to creating a system with services that allowed everyone to embody our motto: “Focus On Your Genius"

Impact Note:

  • Limited Licensed Social Worker

  • Supported 140+ individuals/families/communities

P.S. My favorite color is purple and most of my favorite jobs mainly branded with royal purple.

The Reality Check ErA

(Burnout + ego death)

Long story short - I completely lost my mind. It was great to know that there was a high-demand for virtual assistant services, however, my passionate idea became a profitable enterprise at an alarmingly fast pace. Looking back, it was as if TRA’s infrastructure was screaming for a foundation shift because nothing was working itself out “as usual”. I kept going though. This is when I realized that this issue (faced by many that I served) was a problem bigger than me and my quick solution.

I burnt out. This led to my team structure burning down. Not too long afterwards, my “high-achiever trauma” mask started to slip in front of the public.

My “little sweet and professional” reputation was burning through every root of my network that took over 10 years to build up.

Not to mention - I was forced to grieve a few loved ones in my village along the way which completely shifted my perspective on how my personal and professional values must align in order to create a capacity building hub filled with equitable resources for all.

Burnout wasn’t failure—it was feedback. I learned that sustainability requires boundaries, alignment, and intentional design. Not just passion.

I had no choice but to rest, reflect, refresh, and respond. The plan of action started with rebuilding “J.B.” and allowing the resources to find me as I figured out the next best steps for my social entrepreneurial career.

Impact Note:

  • Rebuilt systems for sustainability

  • Shifted from overextension to intentional impact

The ALigned Ecosystem Era

(Refine: Be The Resource)

Today, I operate at the intersection of social work and social entrepreneurship.
I help individuals and organizations turn lived experiences into structured, sustainable impact.

We must get out of “survival” mode by building alone. We cannot do this work alone - even if you have a team behind you. Even if you think the outcome would be better if YOU did it. That’s not a “forward-thinking” or “leaders lead leaders” type of mindset.

As change makers, we must be committed to building ecosystems with the goal of capacity building for all. This will allow for everyone to have the basic need that everyone has been deprived of: TIME.

Time to create. Time with family. Time for yourself.

Through J.B. The Resource Agency and aligned initiatives, I support others in strengthening their foundations and scaling their impact.

Impact Note:

  • Community Impact Consultant

  • Founder & CEO of J.B. The Resource Agency dba Be The Resource Foundation

  • Supported 60+ nonprofits/entrepreneurs

  • 20+ clients served consistently (many 2+ years)

  • Facilitated 30+ workshops / consultations

  • 4+ years of ongoing client partnerships

The Becoming Era

(College + Pandemic Graduation)

When I chose my major while preparing to move on campus, I had this idea that it made most sense to go into a field with numbers since I was always in the advanced math classes.

However, I kept having the constant thought of the real impact I would make by focusing on numbers. Great skill to have - but I wanted more for my reality.

Social work gave language to how I can turn painful lived experiences into purposeful impact through community organizing. Especially as the eldest daughter to an eldest daughter.

Eventually along the academic journey- Becoming didn’t look traditional.
Navigating higher education during a global pandemic reshaped my understanding of resilience, adaptability, and purpose.

Impact Note:

  • Earned Bachelor’s in Social Work from Michigan State University

  • Earned Master’s in Social Work from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)

  • Reactivated MSU’s African-American Student Mentoring Program

  • Navigated academic milestones during COVID-19
